Windows XP and Fireport workaround

January 14, 2002 by James "LySiNe" Chan

This is a hack I made that fixes the Diamond Fireport 40 not being detected in Windows XP, giving you an error when you attempt to install it.

Click here to download the ZIP file containing the fix (21.8 KB)

If you can't get your Fireport 40 to work in Windows XP use these files I ripped from Windows 2000.

  1. Put SCSI.inf in C:\Windows\INF\
  2. Put Fireport.sys in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers
  3. Reinstall Fireport in Device Manager

Or if you want to keep the original SCSI.inf which is mostly empty (open it up in Notepad and take a look), then manually select the .inf and install it that way.
